5:30 AM – Rise and Shine
The day starts early in the heating and cooling business. As I grab my morning coffee and check the dispatch schedule, I can already see three urgent calls waiting – two in Meridian and one in west Boise. Winter mornings in Idaho can be unforgiving, and nobody should have to wake up to a cold house.
7:00 AM – First Call of the Day
My first stop is helping a elderly couple whose furnace stopped working overnight. The temperature dropped to 15 degrees, and they’ve been using space heaters to stay warm. After a thorough inspection, I find a failed ignitor – a common but crucial component. Within an hour, their home is warming up again, and the relief on their faces makes this job worthwhile.
Common Winter Service Calls Include:
- Faulty ignitors and flame sensors
- Thermostat malfunctions
- Dirty filters causing system failures
- Frozen condensate lines
- Blower motor issues
Midday Rush
Between calls, I’m constantly checking my phone for emergency situations. The Treasure Valley keeps us busy, especially during these cold snaps. Traveling between Boise, Meridian, and Nampa gives me a chance to plan my route efficiently and stay in touch with our dispatch team.
End of Day Reflections
As my shift winds down around 6 PM, I’ve helped six families restore heat to their homes. Each service call is unique, but they all share one thing in common – the satisfaction of knowing we’ve made someone’s day a little better and their home a lot warmer.
Remember, regular maintenance can prevent most heating emergencies. It’s always better to catch issues early than to wake up to a cold house on a freezing Idaho morning.
